This original watercolor and gouache painting was inspired by a lesson in indigenous Amazonian weaving practices during a trip to Guyana, and my first readthrough of Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. It is a tribute to working with natural materials in a way that honors the land and highlights the interconnectedness of forests and the ways that humans fit into them.
The painting is 10"x13" (13"x16" total framed dimensions) in a solid wood frame.
